What

surrounding
self-employment
as
it
applies
to
persons
with
varying
types
of
disabilities?
Here
are
some
success
stories
that
tell
you
what
you
need
to
know
about
everything
from
principles
of
community
economic
development
as
a
driving
force
behind
self-employment
to
decision
making,
to
different
aspects
of
running
a
small
business.
Everybody's
Business
is
the
result
of
a
one-year
'Innovations'
project
funded
by
Human
Resource
Development
Canada.
The
project
was
undertaken
to
explore
opportunities
for
individuals
with
intellectual
disabilities
to
become
self-employed.
The
Bay
St
George
Community
Employment
Corporation,
Newfoundland
and
Project
Work,
Toronto,
Ontario
shared
their
stories
about
persons
with
intellectual
disabilities
being
supported
to
start,
own
and
control
their
own
businesses.
Everybody's
Business
is
intended
to
stimulate
discussion
and
thought
amongst
families,
employment
agencies,
support
networks,
and
individuals
with
disabilities
around
the
possibilities
for
self-employment.
It
is
meant
to
challenge
traditional
thinking
about
the
kinds
of
employment
that
people
with
intellectual
disabilities
are
usually
steered
towards.
It
is
meant
to
open
some
minds,
and
some
doors.

individual
