Stepping Out Curriculum

Stepping Out is a comprehensive program that takes the instruction out of the classroom and into the community. Individuals (students) learn by performing a balanced blend of skills - from shopping to banking to doing laundry - on planned outings.
The Instructor's Guide sets lesson plans and shows how to use the materials. The guide covers 30 community outings with implementation plans. Step-by-step analysis is provided for each outing. Has 47 reproducible masters, including:

  • home questionnaire,
  • training site analysis,
  • progress report,
  • home report,
  • assessment sheets,
  • dining, shopping, and banking aids.

Student Resources including Stepping Out Cues. Users can catch a bus without telling time, pay for a pair of shoes without math, or use the phone without reading the directory. Cues are wallet size, laminated for durability and cover a wide range of everyday life skill needs. Includes 13 unique cues (54 in all) with pocket book.
