The Language Activities of Daily Living Series

These programs offer exciting, environments in which individuals can explore and learn about the objects and activities they encounter in their daily routines. Each program uses six engaging scenes to teach over 100 common vocabulary items. You can teach all of the objects in a particular setting or select items to be targeted. Theses programs are not only fun to use, they build functional language skills and increase independence.

My House - This program helps adults and children develop independence in their homes. They'll learn over 100 vocabulary items found in six different rooms: living room, dining room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and utility room.

My Town - This program offers a motivating way to teach adults and children over 100 vocabulary items found in 6 community settings: doctor's office, dentist's office, restaurant, park, city neighbourhood, and suburban neighbourhood.

My School - This is a great program to prepare students for school experiences. You can choose from over 100 vocabulary items in 6 school settings: classrooms, playground, cafeteria, library, music/art room, and hallway. There are four activities in each scene:

  • Discover Names: The user selects an object within the scene and the computer says its name.
  • Discover Functions/ Descriptions: The user selects an object and the computer says what it does or gives a description of it. ("You can use scissors to cut paper.")
  • Identify Names: The computer asks the user to find various objects according to their names ("Find the sidewalk".)
  • Identify Functions/ Descriptions: The user is asked to identify objects according to their function or description ("Where do you hang your clothes?").

Suggested for adults and children with language-learning disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical impairments, and autism; students learning English as a Second Language; and adults with traumatic brain injury or aphasia.
