CIRCLES I, CIRCLES II, and CIRCLES III
provides the materials to teach social/sexual
boundaries to persons with developmental disabilities.
Foundations for appropriate social/sexual
behaviour, strategies for handling sexual
exploitation and protection against communicable
diseases are all included in the CIRCLES programs.
PEOPLE
TEACHING PEOPLE About HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
developed by Community Living Algoma, this
fun interactive program is aimed at teaching
individuals about Healthy, Unhealthy and Abusive
relationships. Using a "game" format trained
Peer Facilitators assist in the delivery of
this program. Risk Assessment Tool developed
by Community Living Algoma the
Risk
Assessment Tool provides the tools
need to identify "risk" in a persons life
and through the use of the personal planning
process, where possible, assist the individual
to manage the risk in the least intrusive
manner possible. The Risk Management Flowchart
acts as a step by step guide for the team.
Street
Awareness w as developed jointly by
the E & T Jiu-Jitsu and the Elgin Association
for Community Living to teach adults with
developmental disabilities street proofing
skills.
WHAT
NEXT? What to do about Sexual Assault
developed by Community Living Algoma in partnership
with the Sexual Assault Care Centre, Sault
Area Hospitals, Shaw Cable, Harmony Productions,
S.S.M. Police Services, this 12 minute video
is meant to show what occurs after an individual
has disclosed that they have been abused,
who they will talk to, what their rights are,
etc. It is hoped that people with developmental
disabilities will learn that sexual abuse
and sexual assault are not their fault and
that, they will tell someone they trust.
