The All Star Company
By Nick Marsh

Many human services organizations are using this dynamic book about team building. Whether a family, a school, a social service organization, a small or large business, The All Star Company uses cutting edge thinking and examples to show successful teams at work. The ALL STAR metaphor takes the reader out of the traditional hierarchical organization into the All Star Model. Using a "Circus" analogy the readers are presented with five facets to management and teamwork, which are:

  • Vision (destiny) - envisioning a desirable, exciting, and worthwhile future for the organization.
  • Leadership (ring mastery)- leaders holding the dream and directing the performance.
  • Marketplace (encore) - from the audience who are the cast within the company as well as the customers outside the company.
  • People (All Star Cast) - performing together as one community made up of all the star and support acts.
  • Making a Difference (Values) - everyone in the All Star cast is committed to making a difference for each other, the customers and society.

Through the use of the circus analogy Mr Marsh presents the concept of teamwork with emphasis on the interdependence and indispensability of each member of the team. Recommended for anyone interested in organizational change and for anyone who wants to build teams in their organization.
